What do I need in order to use the Markit Hub Financial Research iPad App?

You need:

  • An Apple iPad 1 or 2, using IOS version 4.2 or later
  • Wireless service for your iPad
  • The Markit Hub Financial Research iPad App software, downloaded from the iTunes Store, either directly via your iPad, or via iTunes on your computer (instructions here)
  • An existing ID and password for Markit Hub (request access here), or for the research portals of one of the current Markit Hub providers

What does it cost? Do I have to be a Markit Hub customer?

Markit Hub Financial Research for the iPad is a password protected application. Access is limited to existing investment bank clients of selected Markit Hub providers who are available on the iPad app. Other Markit Hub users may log in to the app, but will only see a limited amount of free, Markit-generated content.

What research content is included in the Markit Hub app?

Currently, the Markit Hub Financial Research App includes content from Markit, Deutsche Bank, Nomura, Jefferies, ICBC Standard Bank, Markit Research Team, HSBC, Barclays Capital, Wells Fargo, Credit Suisse, RBS and Fitch Ratings; other Markit Hub providers will be added in the future. Access is limited to existing investment bank clients of these Markit Hub providers. Other Markit Hub users may log in to the app, but will only see a limited amount of free, Markit-generated content.

What if I already have access to the research portal of one of the Hub iPad providers?

Does the Markit Hub Financial Research for iPad have all of the same functionality and content as the Markit Hub website, www.hub.com?

The Markit Hub app offers the same single sign on and comingled search functionality as the Markit Hub website, as well as additional features such as Alerts, Briefcase and Notes. Note that not all the providers currently available on Markit Hub are yet on the iPad app.

I’m not a Markit Hub customer; can I get access to the Markit Hub Financial Research iPad App?

To be a Markit Hub customer, you must first have access to the research portals of one of Markit Hub’s iPad providers. Then you need to subscribe to Markit Hub via this form, or by calling Customer Support at:

Will the Markit Hub Financial Research app be available on other devices or platforms, such as iPhone or Android?

Markit Hub is continually examining opportunities for leveraging new devices, platforms and technologies. As a distribution point for mostly PDF-based research, the utility of smaller devices may be limited. However, larger devices, such as Android tablets, may prove more suitable.

How do I get the application onto my device?

You may download the Markit Hub Financial Research iPad App using iTunes, either directly from your iPad or through your computer. Complete instructions are here.

I can't sign in to the application; how do I get help?

Please note that to log in to Markit Hub Financial Research, you must have an existing Markit Hub ID and password.

    How do I log out of the app?

    To log out of the Markit Hub Financial Research app, tap the Logout button at the bottom of any screen within the app.

    Note: if you lose your wireless connection while using the app, it will retain the last accessed page and return you to that page on next login.

    How do I shut down and restart the Markit Hub app?

    1. Double tap the Home button to show the open apps on the bottom bar
    2. Select and hold the Hub app icon
    3. Once the icons are shaking press the red minus button on the Hub icon to kill it
    4. Select the Markit Hub icon again to restart the application and login

    How do I remove the Markit Hub Financial Research App from my iPad?

    To uninstall the Markit Hub App, simply do the following:

    1. Hold your finger on the Markit Hub icon (or any other icon) until all the icons on your home screen begin to shake or wiggle (the same action you take to move or re-arrange home screen icons).
    2. Tap the 'X' in the upper left hand corner of the Markit Hub icon.
    3. When prompted, tap Delete.
    4. To prevent the app from re-syncing to your iPad, plug the iPad into your computer. Under the iPad -> Applications tab in iTunes, de-select the Markit Hub Financial Research application from the Sync Applications list.

    If you have deleted the Markit Hub app from your computer, and you want to re-install it at a later time, simply visit the App Store and select the application again.

    USING THE APP

    How do I download content to read offline?

    • You may mark individual research pieces to be saved in your Briefcase by tapping the Save button at the bottom left of the screen
    • You may select multiple items from search results by tapping the blue plus sign to the left of each headline
    • You may also save searches or follow individual analysts, and have those items delivered to your Briefcase automatically
    • Your Briefcase is accessible via main navigation at the top of the screen

    How do I set up alerts for searches?

    Once a search has been run, you may save it so that you are alerted to any new search results, by tapping the Save button at the top of the page, entering a name, tapping on 'Alert', and selecting any or all of three alert options:

    • Tap 'Add to Alerts' to direct results to the Alerts section of the app; alerts notifications will be displayed as numbers beside the Alerts header in main navigation
    • Tap 'Push Notifications', so that notifications will also be visible on the iPad home page
    • Tap 'Auto Save to Briefcase' to send saved search results to your Briefcase automatically; the Briefcase is accessible via main navigation at the top of the screen
